28/07/07  CHAMAN: Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman has said that he favours balanced political relations between Islam and the world and offered to mediate between Taliban and the west.

Central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Fazl-ur-Rahman in an exclusive interview with Geo News correspondent Noor Zaman here said his party would contest next elections from the platform of Muttahida Majalis Amal (MMA). He said mutual differences would be settled within the MMA fold.

Responding a question about future prime minister the JUI leader said he is a democrat and expects that “people will confer trust on us and we will govern in a better way in future.”

He said suicide attacks are reaction of mistakes committed by the United States and the west, which has also hurt us.

Replying a question he offered to mediate between Taliban and the west. He said Taliban have been declared terrorists under United Nations resolutions and deprived of right to live, now they are forced to pass their lives in mountains and caves.
